Keeneland Sales Graduates Shine at Del Mar on Breeders’ Cup Weekend

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 6, 2017) – Keeneland sales graduates accounted for four Breeders’ Cup World Championship races as well as major undercard stakes at Del Mar this weekend.

Graduates of Keeneland’s 2016 September Yearling Sale posted exactas in three Breeders’ Cup races: Good Magic and Solomini in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1); Caledonia Road and Alluring Star in the 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1); and Mendelssohn and Untamed Domain in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

Mendelssohn sold for $3 million to top last year’s September Sale. His half-sister Victory Party, in foal to Curlin, is consigned to the 2017 November Breeding Stock Sale.

Roy H, a graduate of both the 2013 September Sale and 2014 April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, won the TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).

Keeneland sales alumni also were big winners on the Breeders’ Cup weekend undercard: Destin took the Marathon Presented by TAA (G2) and Kitten’s Roar won the Goldikova (G2).

Declarationofpeace, winner of the Qatar Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar, was the top-priced weanling at the 2015 November Sale, and second-highest-priced weanling sold in Keeneland history. His half-brother by Tapit, Morse Code, is consigned as a racing or stallion prospect to the 2017 November Sale.
