2017 Fall Meet Stewards' Report

The Steward's Report provides an explanation of any inquiries and objections during a race day at Keeneland. Please see below for reports from the 2017 Fall Meet.

April 26, 2017 – Race 6

An objection was lodged by the rider of fourth place #3 “Elitch” (James Graham) alleging interference by the rider of third place #2 “Eiteljorg” (Jack Gilligan) leaving the 1/16 pole. After reviewing the race replay and interviewing the riders, the stewards determined that #2 came out to #3 and bumped him several times, causing the rider of #2 to steady and lose momentum.  #2 was disqualified from third and placed fourth, behind #3.

Official order of finish: 1-10-3-2

April 22, 2017 – Race 1

A Stewards Inquiry was posted involving the stretch run and, in addition, an objection was lodged by the rider of third place #3 “Awesometastic” (Corey Lanerie) alleging interference by the rider of the winner, #5 “Milady Rocks” (Luis Saez) in the stretch. After reviewing the race replay and interviewing the riders, the stewards determined that #5 angled in and impeded #3 who was on the rail and forced to check sharply for several strides. #5 was disqualified from the win and placed third, behind #3.

Official order of finish: 6-3-5-2

April 20, 2017 – Race 9

A Stewards Inquiry was posted involving an incident in the stretch, near the 1/16 pole. Second place #1 “Ladies’ Privilege” (Luis Saez) angled in sharply, causing the eventual winner #3 “Youngest Daughter” (Javier Castellano) to steady and angle in, and fifth place #7 “Pounds to Pennies” (Jose Lezcano) who was on the rail, to check sharply to avoid clipping heels. After reviewing the race replay and interviewing the riders, #1 was disqualified from second and placed fifth, behind #7.

Official order of finish: 3-9-12-7-1
