Buoyant Market Fuels Substantial Gains at Keeneland January Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 11, 2018) – Keeneland’s 2018 January Horses of All Ages Sale concluded Thursday with healthy results that signal continued buyer confidence and demand for quality that  buoyed the recent September Yearling and November Breeding Stock auctions.

Keeneland January Sale Surpasses 2017 Gross on Third Day of Selling

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 10, 2018) – Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale reached a milestone Wednesday when gross sales of $31,744,700 through three days of the four-day auction exceeded total sales of $28,785,500 recorded during last year’s entire five-day auction.

The total for 651 horses sold this year is 27.03 percent higher than the corresponding period last year when 581 horses brought $24,989,500. The average of $48,763 rose 13.37 percent from last year’s $43,011, while the median declined 15 percent from $20,000 to $17,000.

Grade 2 Winner Mrs McDougal Brings $1.6 Million, Tops Vibrant Tuesday at Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 9, 2018) – Grade 2 winner Mrs McDougal, the final horse in the ring for Tuesday’s second session of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, became the sale’s highest-priced offering when she sold to Steven W. Young, agent, for $1.6 million. Mrs McDougal and a yearling colt from the first crop of 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah that sold for $1 million today are the most seven-figure horses sold at the January Sale since 2013.

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 9, 2018) – Grade 3 winner Mrs McDougal, the final horse in the ring for Tuesday’s second session of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, became the day’s highest-priced offering when she sold to Steven W. Young, agent, for $1.6 million.

Eaton Sales, agent, consigned Mrs McDougal, a 5-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro out of the stakes-winning Distorted Humor mare Distorted Passion.

Stakes Winner Bellavais Brings $485,000 to Lead Strong First Day of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 8, 2018) – Keeneland realized double-digit growth in gross, average and median prices during Monday’s opening session of the 2018 January Horses of All Ages Sale, which was highlighted by the $485,000 paid by Steven W. Young, agent, for Bellavais, a stakes-winning daughter of Tapit from a successful female family developed and raced by Darby Dan Farm.

Young said he purchased Bellavais for an undisclosed client and that she would resume training with Todd Pletcher.
